Kaiser Server Room and Network Failure (Aug 2012)

On August 28, at 16:11, the uninterruptible power supply for our Kaiser server room spontaneously failed. Several services, notably Windows networking for the UBC_ECE domain, electronic software downloads, ECE free software mirrors, the /cmc NFS share, and ssh-linux5 went down. Since the router for the Kaiser building is located there, the data and phone networks for the Kaiser building were also unavailable.

Power was restored at 17:20 by putting the UPS into maintenance bypass mode. The UPS will be repaired in the next few days when parts are available. No further outages are expected.

All services should be restored already. Please file a ticket to report any remaining problems you may encounter.
