The ECE Engineering Services and IT Support Team have confirmed that MATLAB use at ECE now periodically exceeds the total licenses available on the departmental MATLAB licensing server.

What happens if I can't obtain a license from the license manager?
MATLAB start-up will fail, and you will not be able to use the software. You may receive an error message similar to the one below:

License checkout failed.
License Manager Error -4
Maximum number of users for MATLAB reached. Try again later.
To see a list of current users use the lmstat utility or contact your License Administrator.

How is this issue being addressed?

As of mid-February 2014, UBC IT offers a campus-wide MATLAB licensing arrangement for UBC faculty, staff and researchers. Please see below for further information:
