All core ECE IT services were restored to working order as of 3:30pm today. Research and teaching servers located in the MacLeod server room were powered on alongside core IT services.

At approximately 11:30am today, a MacLeod building-wide power failure disabled access to all core ECE IT services, as well as network access in the MacLeod, Kaiser and AMPEL/Brimacombe buildings. The failure etiology is unknown, but was concurrent to a reported natural gas odour near ICICS and MacLeod, prompting an evacuation of Kaiser, MacLeod and ICICS. Following emergency service and university review, power was restored to MacLeod at approximately 2:00pm.

If you experience any difficulty accessing your ECE e-mail, home directory, shared group storage, or any other ECE IT service, please first reboot your computer and attempt to access the service again. If you continue to experience difficulty, don’t hesitate to contact the IT Support Team at ECE by e-mailing help@ece.ubc.ca or visiting us in MacLeod 105, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.
