Scheduled Outage in Kaiser (Mar 2013)

To ECE Department members and occupants of the Kaiser building:

In order to perform an electrical upgrade, power will need to be temporarily switched off to ECE's Kaiser server room. Network connectivity and some computer services will be disrupted on MONDAY MARCH 25 from 5:45 am. Service will be restored by 8:00 am (probably much earlier, if the operation goes according to plan).

The following services will be shut off during the scheduled outage:

  • Wired network connectivity in Kaiser[1]
  • VoIP phone service in Kaiser[2]
  • ssh-linux5, ssh-linux6, ssh-linux7 [3]
  • CMC CAD software
  • some ECE software license servers
  • ECE electronic software distribution server (http://download.ece.ubc.ca)
  • ECE free software mirror server (http://mirrors.ece.ubc.ca)
  • ECE & BME GADS
  • ECE staff file server
  • ECE pre-deployment intranet server
  • Servers for ECE research groups: lersse1, psserv, vb

[1] UBC Wireless is expected to continue working.

[2] If you have configured your VoIP phone to forward incoming calls to another number, forwarding should continue to work during the outage.

[3] ssh-linux8 should continue to be available.
