From 2012-08-22 07:00 to 2012-08-23 18:00, DNS lookups were failing sporadically, leading to transient failures in many other services, including: * authentication to any ECE server * delays or failures in e-mail delivery * NFS mounting of home directories * connecting to software license servers The cause has been traced to a spam attack on our mail server, which resulted in a flood of DNS queries. We have blocked the spam attack, and service should return to normal. Unfortunately, our mail server has been blacklisted by Yahoo. The ECE mail server will likely be unable to send mail to Yahoo e-mail addresses for the next 48 hours. We apologize for the inconvenience.
