What is the change?

Shared group data presently housed on an ECE storage server will move to a UBC IT group storage service (Teamshare) on April 7th, 2014, starting at 7:30am. During the change window from 7:30am-10:30am, UBC IT staff will visit you at your place of work to reconfigure your computer to access the new group storage.

What do you need from me?

We need to work with you in-person on April 7th. You do not need to arrive any earlier than you normally do, but if you are not available on April 7th, please let the IT team know by emailing help@ece.ubc.ca

How will this change impact my work?

On April 7th, you will temporarily lose access to shared group and home directory data on the existing ECE storage system for period ranging from 15-45 minutes.

If you need access to your shared group or home directory data during this time, you may temporarily copy folders/files to your local workstation. Please be aware that any folders/files you copy to your workstation will not be backed-up.

Are training materials or instructions available?

UBC IT staff will be on-site to assist you in connecting to the Teamshare shared data service on April 7th. Written instructions will also be available at http://help.ece.ubc.ca that morning.
