This issue was resolved at ~3:00pm PDT on March 14, 2014

The ECE e-mail service experienced demand overload starting ~11:30am today. The cause has been traced to a research data-collection script operating using a non-compromised ECE user account.

During the e-mail service disruption, mail messages addressed to @ece.ubc.ca mail addresses were rejected, while others were queued for delivery. For messages in the queue, delivery times may be delayed for up to an hour. If a message was rejected, the sender would have received a notification.
