Network disruption in Kaiser 3rd Floor (May 2014)

Hosts on the third floor of Kaiser appear to be having difficulty obtaining DHCP leases.

Starting May 5, machines in the affected zone have been unable to connect to the ECE network via Ethernet. For now, machines that still have an active DHCP lease continue to work, but may eventually drop off the network as their lease expires.

2014-05-05 17:50: Rebooting the network switch for the Kaiser 3rd floor has resolved the issue. We suspect that there may be a firmware bug that triggered the failure; the UBC IT Connectivity Infrastructure team will follow up with the manufacturer to investigate.
