Spear phishing attempt (Dec. 8, 2015)
We have received reports of fraudulent emails directing recipients to a bogus website pretending to be an ECE Webmail gateway. The emails are now being blocked, but should you have received one please do not respond to it.
Power Interruption (Sept. 13, 2015)
We experienced a major power outage yesterday, Sunday September 13th, which affected many Applied Sciences buildings including KAIS and MCLD. The power was restored after 4pm. There may be local impacts that we are not aware of so please report any issues to help@ece.ubc.ca.
ECE mail delivery delays, (Sep 9-10, 2015)
E-mail delivery to @ece.ubc.ca addresses was delayed from Sep 9 around 4 pm until Sep 10 10:30 am. Apologies for the inconvenience.
ECE Storage Migration (Aug 15 and Aug 22, 2015)
ECE IT will be performing a series of data migrations this August to move data from the Klinck Data Centre to the new University Data Centre. Various ECE services may be unavailable during each of the two outage windows. Users are requested to logout from all sessions before each outage. Workstations may need to be rebooted afterwards.
Change to access to IEEExplore from off-campus
Please be aware that the Library no longer provides access to IEEExplore through myVPN. Off-campus users should now use EZproxy instead: https://login.ezproxy.library.ubc.ca/login?qurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.library.ubc.ca http://ezproxy.library.ubc.ca/login?url=http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplore/DynWel.jsp Please note that access through EZproxy is available only to current UBC students, staff, and faculty.
SSH server upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04
The ssh-linux servers are scheduled to be replaced. Most users should not experience any disruption. You can help test the new server and report any problems.
